ABOUT

Dr. Eric Berg, DC, The Knowledge Doc, founded the Berg Institute of Health & Wellness in Seminole, Florida, in 1997, where he currently serves as CEO. The Institute's mission is to assist people in understanding their health, the needs of their bodies, and how to overcome nutritional deficiencies.

Dr. Berg empowers people to take charge of their health and well-being to achieve their ideal weight loss goals, aided by the keto diet and intermittent fasting.

Dr. Berg began many years of scientific research in nutrition after graduating from chiropractic school in 1988. His drive stemmed from a desire to comprehend his food-related health issues. Dr. Eric now educates people on a variety of health-related topics. He specializes in dissecting complex health problems, linking symptoms to root causes, and developing nutritional healing strategies. His signature healthy keto diet and intermittent fasting—a long-term eating plan—are now widely regarded as game changers in achieving extraordinary levels of wellness.

Dr. Berg's dramatic transformation in his health due to new insights gained through deeper research into the science of nutrition eventually led him to transition from full-time chiropractic work to teaching his methods to other medical professionals, including a stint as an associate professor at Howard University.

His 2006 book, The 7 Principles of Fat Burning, was updated in 2019 based on new research as The Healthy Keto Plan, which is now an Amazon bestseller.

Dr. Eric Berg also launched a YouTube channel in 2008 and continues sharing his thoughts on healthy eating and various other health topics, with over 6,000 videos, 18 million subscribers, and 100 million monthly views. He also developed a keto and intermittent fasting course to train Keto Coaches worldwide. Dr. Berg's goal is to put people in charge of their health.

Dr. Eric worked as a chiropractor in San Diego, CA, Shreveport, LA, and Alexandria, VA, before becoming CEO of the Berg Institute of Health & Wellness in Seminole, FL, in 1997.

Dr. Eric received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1988 from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, after studying pre-med at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside from 1983 to 1985 and serving in the Army Reserves, where he was trained in X-ray technology.

National-Lincoln School of Postgraduate Education; Southern California College of Chiropractic; International Scoliosis Research Center; Risk Management, Louisiana Union of Chiropractic; and Motor Vehicle Collision Injuries, LUCP, provided additional advanced and speciality academic training.

Dr. Eric passed parts I, II, and III of the National Board of Chiropractic Examination, earned the Certificate of Proficiency in Chiropractic X-ray, became a board-certified chiropractor in Virginia, California, and Louisiana, and was certified in Microscopy, live blood cell analysis, and diagnostic interpretation of neuro-selective current perception threshold.

Dr. Eric Berg has contributed significant personal resources—in time, money, and broad public outreach—to philanthropic organizations that share his passion for wellness and healing over his many years in the public eye as a recognized authority in the science of nutrition. The Bergs and his wife, Karen, give generously to the public on a national and international scale through dieting and fitness education.

Dr. Eric Berg served over 40,000 patients in his 30 years of chiropractic practice in Alexandria, Virginia. He also conducted internal and external seminars for government organizations such as the Library of Congress, the Federal Communications Commission, the National Institute of Science, and FBI.

Dr. Berg hosted annual Keto Health Summits, most recently in Washington, DC, between 2017 and 2019 (when the pandemic paused such large public gatherings). Annual attendance quickly grew to 1,000 physicians, diet coaches, healthcare practitioners, and a slew of keto-dieters sharing extraordinary wellness stories and dramatic weight loss. Many nationally renowned speakers, experts in keto diets and metabolic health, were featured at the gatherings.

Dr. Berg's work has been featured in many popular magazines and TV and radio programs, including Channel 9, CBS Nightly News, and Channel 8 News. Dr. Berg has taught his methods, techniques, and scientific findings to over 2,500 health professionals. He is a key figure in raising awareness of the role that ketogenic diets and intermittent fasting can play in promoting health and wellness.

Dr. Eric Berg's passion for health inspires him in areas other than the Berg Institute, particularly in hobbies and personal interests. "I am constantly searching for underlying reasons why people get diseases—become it's a hobby," he says. His personal experience overcoming the effects of overwork and overeating as "the meat and potatoes kid" fueled his passion.

His new understanding of nutrition had finally revived his energy and ability to keep up with his wife Karen's busy life and their three active children by the age of 32. Eric's free time is now one of his most valuable but scarce assets. Playing his handcrafted guitar and working with Karen to create new, enticing health-infused kitchen creations provide him with inspiration and relaxation.

Dr. Eric Berg now lives on a picturesque farm where he is researching growing nutrient-dense food and nutrient-dense animals. Karen agrees that everything in the kitchen came from the earth.
